I got a DUI conviction 20 months ago, and my insurance carrier apparently did not find out about it yet. I have not made any changes in my policy since, and I now need to buy a new vehicle to accommodate my growing family. I am a concerned that this may cause my insurance provider to check my record and find out about my DUI conviction. Is it possible for my spouse to purchase a new policy for herself only for the new vehicle? Then, After 3 years have passed, could I add the new vehicle to my existing family policy without having to pay "Hi risk" rates?
