New York Life is a good company if you want to be a CAPTIVE agent. I spent 8 years, left, taking no renewals with me. I went independent where all my commission are vested. I own the business.

After training your basis commission is 55%. In the first 2 years, they used to give you a training allowance. You were called an AFU.
That has been a long time ago.

After a 13 year stint in manufacturing systems, a field totally unrelated to insurance, finance or sales, I am contemplating a career change as an agent for New York Life. I am curious as to average first and second year commissions and any comments on New York Life. I would also like to know what are the best lead generators available. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
