CGU is refusing to lower the premium to pre-accident level.


Two comments--

1. What happened in the accident? was it a rear-ender or more complicated than that?

2. Report the accident to the other company yourself. I see claims all the time which were reported by the claimant, not the insured. Just because they don't want to report the accident doesn't mean you cannot. If you have a copy of the police report send it to their insurer with a letter making your claim.

3. the premium bump is probably company policy; they are all different. USAA bumped my rates for a parking lot accident, but the bump didn't take effect until the next rating period.

4. CGU just went through yet another huge re-organization and restructuring (standard for all carriers every 2-4 years, it seems). They consolidated numerous claims offices and I suspect they have serious problems with overworking people and low morale. Poor service is almost always the result of lousy management, which is unfortunately indemic to this industry and the claims business in general.
