Don't be rediculous. You act like everyone can simply go out and afford a lawyer. The truth is not everyone out there can afford a lawyer and quite a few companies know this and count on this. Maybe the couple looked at how much it cost for a lawyer and the fact that Geico can afford the best lawyers money can buy and they can't even afford a servicable one and just decided to take the lost. So if you want to speculate on why they haven't contacted an attorney why don't you bring that up also.
: Before you go out and slander an upstanding company, perhaps you should provide some evidence to support your claim. If GEICO did, in fact, maliciously manufacture a charge against your wife, then you are legally entitled to an attorney, as such action is illegal and any finding in your favor could be quite lucrative. Additionally, there are millions of attorneys our there salivating at the chance to take on a major company like GEICO. The fact is, you haven't contact an attorney because you are very well aware that GEICO is in the right and that you have no real legal grounds to lodge a formal complaint.
: As for the bad customer service experiences reported by the others, it is regrettable when anyone has to go through the inconvenience that you went through, but mistakes do happen regularly without malicious intent.
: As for the statement about saving 15% when GEICO goes under, GEICO is the single most financially stable insurer in the country (check out the bond rating), and is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, a massive and extremely stable conglomerate. You can be certain that GEICO will outlast not only you, but many generations of your families to come.
