: While in the Abbot Northwestern Hospital, Mpls,ICU, my husband needed an emergency ventriculoscopy. Someone called a neurosurgeon who in turned called me at midnight for permission to perform the surgery.However, unknown to me, the neurosurgeon called was from a clinic that was NOT part of the Blue Cross coverage plan that my husband was covered under at Abbot.. Now Blue Cross will cover only 80% of the amount they feel the neurosurgeon should charge for the surgery, not 80% of the full bill. Question:How do I find out why a surgeon, not part of Blue Cross was called? How do I convince Blue Cross to pay 80% of the total bill?
