: It was 1999 when it did 103.72%. However, for the next 2 years it did -11.36% & -32.59%. For $30,000 to grow to "well over $100,000" the fund would have had to AVERAGE nearly 25%. VKEG has done 15.47% during the past five years which would give you an ballpark of $65,000 using 15.47% per year. Even if you look at actual returns your looking at $90,000 ballpark.

: : : Im skeptical.
: : : How is your Van Kampen Emerging Growth now? 100k?..500k?
: : : I dont think so. Five years ago it was approx $27, now its $40. Please tell me how in five years you went from 30k to 500k in mutual funds???

: : : : Dude,

: : : : I take it then that you weren't "beaten down, called a losser and your frineds and family don't hate you because of Primerica"? I just had to ask because of what our friend Nekko said. Iv'e been whith the company for 9 years and just about all my family are clients and I havn't lost any friends because I work for Primerica, in fact I have many friends with Primerica.

: : : : In fact everytime we have a family gathering they all ask me if they can look at "the ring". My brother once asked me if because it's so heavy if it effected my golf swing. I told him no because my swing is so bad that nothing could hurt it. lol
: : : :
: : : : I'm glad you are a client with the company and gave the business a chance. Good luck and God bless.

: : : : : I had a $30,000 IRA rollover from my wife's last job and we put it in a 3% CD at the bank for a year, because we didn't know what to do. The only company that came to our home was Primerica. They taught us about the rule of 72 and the benefits of term insurance. The rep. then put our CD into VK Emerging Growth fund and in about 5 years, it's now well over $100,000 in value. I was also recruited by Primerica to work for them and worked about 3 years part time, averaging about $3000 per year. I later quit, but it wasn't because of them, it was that I was scared to go on full time commission-only work. A lot of people just aren't cut out to do that type of work. Only 1 in 10 ever really make it full time. That's why they recruit so many reps. They know most will not continue on. The ones that do, make a very nice income and will become financially independent in about 5-10 years. I am very thankful that Primerica financially educated me, even though I didn't continue working with them. I've put in to practice their philosophy and now have accumulated about $500,000 in mutual fund value, and I'm only 45 years old. I should be able to retire in about 10 years with close to a 6 figured fund portfolio. Who knows, I might even start back with them to pick up some part time income when I go into semi-retirement. Thanks Primerica!

: : Emerging Growth had a year (99 0r 98) of 100% return... therefore once allocated after that growth period to preserve it's earnings ... I can see how the account went from 100k - 500k and possibly with additional savings added to it along the way - or as one calls it - Dollar Cost Averaging !

: : Take care,
