If you've been ripped off by an insurance salesman, contact an experienced and capable attorney to help you pursue the unwinding of the annuity and other remedies, through negotiation or perhaps litigation. State, county and local bar associations across the United States maintain active attorney-referral services. The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys has a listing of its attorney members - check its web site at Naela.com. If you are in California, California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform has a referral service at 800-474-1116.

: : Annuities account for about two-thirds of total life insurance industry sales, according to the Life Insurance Marketing Research Association, with variable annuities making up the bulk of those sales. The Hartford is the leading seller of variable annuities in the U.S., followed by TIAA-CREF, the AXA Equitable Life Insurance unit of France's AXA, MetLife, and AIG's AIG SunAmerica Life Assurance.
: I wonder how many of those are VUL or variable annuities that have not performed near projections? VUL is a scam product in my opinion, I haven't seen one I liked, except for the commission!
