On October 7, 2002, Bruce Mason was convicted of arson and other charges in a federal bench trial in Binghamton, New York before the Hon. Thomas J. McAvoy. Although government and insurance fire investigators found no evidence of arson at the fire scene (i.e., no accelerant, no incendiary device), the record shows these experts devised a physically impossible arson scenario, and ignored, destroyed, suppressed, or lied about evidence which disproved it. When this wasn't enough to win the conviction, authorities fabricated a witness.
