Actually, I was in the same boat as you. I was impressed with their presentation (WFG, that is) and I ended up joining their organization.
The first obstacle you need to overcome is their Accelerated Program - it's the program that you have to get 10 appointments for your "mentor" to show the presentation to. Let me tell you how deceiving some of these "mentors" are. First off, if YOU don't have a life insurance license YOU cannot commission off of those appointments. With that said, I went through the whole motion by the book - my mentor didn't. In fact, she told me that those 10 appointments had to be CLOSED appointments for me to be reimbursed for the Accelerated Program. Apparently, when doing these ten appointments, WFG is preparing you to take your Series 6 exam - AFTER you take the basic insurance license exam. Thy're supposed to reimburse you for the Series 6 exam but not the basic.
I called WFG's corporate office, and was FINALLY transferred to someone who was in charge of the entire Accel. Program. Even though she took my complaints (thriugh email and verbally), nothing was ever done to correct the problem.
If you really look at their commission structure, also, you will see that the only way you can advance through the commission ladder is by RECRUTING new "agents". PLUS, they have a calculation you need to use in order to figure out your commission - which isn't much for you, but significant for your recruiter!
Bottom line, it's better to get your license on your own and keep the full commission you've earned.
