Mike:

The insurance contracts I've seen pretty much are tilted towards the insurance carrier, after all they are the ones that write them.

Would the claimaint get beat up more with an independent adjuster hoping to get more work from a carrier or a company / captive adjuster doing his masters bidding?

: I worked as an claims adjuster in the auto section of some pretty large insurance carriers for over 20 years. I am now retired. I would just like to pass on some of what I have learned over the years to others. The most effective weapon you can have is knowledge. When you are involved in any stage of an insurance claim, the best way to keep yourself from getting duped is to know your rights and know what you are entitled to. I have seen a lot of written complaints on the Internet. A lot of the complaints I read weren't legitimate. That is not to say that the insurance companies do not make mistakes, they do. That is also not to say that the insurance companies do not intentionally rip people off, they do. However, that policy that you file or throw away is actually a contract. By paying your premium you have agreed to the terms of that contract whether you read it or not. I don't read mine either, so I am not suggesting you do.

: I am not going to sit here and tell you everything you need to know. That will take forever and I will never be able to cover everything. Feel free to email me at insuranceinsider000@yahoomail.com with any questions or complaints you might have. I will help you in any way that I can...good luck and be careful out there.
