Just a quick note, in the past few years family members and I have been in and out of the hospital over 50 times, some short term stays, day stays, and long term stays. During that time we had two insurance companies. Prudential ----- yuck! They tried to kick me out of the hospital when I was in preterm labor, my son when he was in the NICU, and my husband 48 hours after a abdominal apendectomy (after the appendix had ruptured!) United Health Care, on the other hand, has covered all reasonable medical costs including two experimental surgeries and 3 months of home uterine monitoring for a follow up pregnancy. Even my ob/gyn said that he never had a better experience with an insurance company with a high risk pregnancy.
Like with all insurance companies, I do have to keep up on them when a payment here or there isn't made, but in every case it seems that the mistake has been on the doctor's or hospital's end and not United's end.
The staff is very helpful and friendly!
