[100 Insurers Message Board] [FAQ]

Posted by Jean T. on March 18, 2004 at 17:19:00:

We had a fire that was limited to a couch. However, it smoldered for three hours before being enough to wake us (no thanks to the dog OR the smoke alarm!). At any rate, there is intensive smoke damage throughout the main living area. We are renting while we build and our Renter's Ins. agent has been out. He counted the big stuff and left it at that. However, the ServePro people are here cleaning and they tell me to claim any food sitting out, anything in the sooty cabinets that is not in cans and all my spices - in addition - all my make-up (bathroom was really bad - soot even in drawers).

Are they correct in this assumption? Is there anything else my agent didn't tell me to claim that I can? We had a 2,500 deductible so every $.01 counts...

TIA,
Jean
