[100 Insurers Message Board] [FAQ]

My first experience at Kaiser.

After being a member for a couple years, and paying $207 a month, I finally had my first reason to visit Kaiser.

I broke my finger. Originally I put a great homemade splint on it, but because of my Job, they wouldnt let me work unless I got an ok from a Doctor.

Called Kaiser and was informed to make an appointment, and not go into the emergency because it would cost $135.00. I checked it out, and sure enough, under my personal Advantage plan, Emergency room visits are more than regular visits.

Called back to make an appointment and the operator told me to go to emergency. Then talked to a supervisor and decided to should make an appointment for the next day. So I did.

Went to a doctor who prescribed an x-ray. Sent me to the emergency building to get it. After viewing the x-ray, it revealed exactly my own prognosis, fracture on the ring finger. Sent to yet another waiting room, saw another doctor who was nice. Sent me to someone who put the most mid evil laughable splint on Ive ever seen. Completely useless. Might as well have used half a tooth pick and some cellophane tape. Was advised to see an orthopedic surgeon the next day.

Went in to my appointment thinking that possibly they might need to remove the bone fragment that split off. No. He suggested a splint. And was the rudest and second most stupid doctor Ive seen in my 46 years.

So now, I have this really good splint. $61.50 and 5 hours later. I went against my better judgement of going to the local clinic (2 blocks away) where I could have gotten that same splint, x-ray in 1 hour same day walk in for the same price with no insurance. But no. I decided to see what Kaiser was all about.

I really hope I dont have something horrible happen to me like needing glasses or God help me a rash. I might still be there feeling like I have to tip everyone 5-20 bucks except its not at a really good resort or hotel.

You do have some pretty nice people working there I might add. Not worth the money though. Id trust my sister with heart surgery than Kaiser. I would suggest hiring people who have at least 6th grade educations.

Sincerely,

An unsatisfied patient

P.S.

Oh wait. It gets even better.

Today in the mail I got a bill from Kaiser for $100 for an emergency room visit and $13.50 for a billing co-pay increase. Ha Ha Ha. So I got charged for an Emergency visit anyway!!

I mean you really have to laugh.

I know I should have just gone to a clinic but I guess I wanted to see what Kaiser was all about. What joke. Who ever runs this atrocity is way over their head.

From what Ive seen you have the stupidest doctors and most inefficient system other than the DMV.
