Hi Sally,

I want to echo Sman's sentiments regarding your son's service in Iraq. You son should also be covered under SGLI (Serviceman's Group Life Insurance). Hopefully he elected the max coverage offered, (currently the max is $250,000). I also agree with Sman that many companies have abandoned the War Clause and hopefully it is not an issue for him if he has an individual policy. Like I said, he still has the SGLI policy.

: Hi, my son is in the U.S. Military serving in Iraq at the moment. He is a family man with a wife and 2 children. I read on another message board that almost all insurance policies have a "war clause" in them that says the company won't pay the death benefit if the insured is killed during a war. Can any agents verify if this is true or not? There seemed to be some people debating that this was true on the other message board, but the administrator deleted their postings and now refuses to discuss the topic further. What's strange is he is the one who made the statement that policies contain war caluses.

: This is a matter of great concern for me and my daughter in law. I would appreciate a response.

: Thank you!
