I think in New York, UNUM is presently in a very
large law suit - a class action - for the way they handle peoples claims. It may be a good idea to ask your insurance commissioner in the State of New York. Also, many attorneys in New York may be aware of the Class Action.
It seems in your type of case there would be a lot of "subjective complaints" and carriers don't like subjective complaints. Thus, Neuro Psch test may be appropriate, if I were you I would contact attorney who has actually litigated these case, ask when and how many and outcomes. I
