In August of last year I suffered what is called a "Walking Seizure". I was driving my husbands pick-up at the time and the truck suffered very minor damage, so minor that a claim was never filed. I spent 3 days in the hospital which was covered by my husbands insurance at work so again no claim was filed nor was I issued a ticket. My drivers license was suppended for a period of one year while I have been under a doctors treatment. I am happy to say that my seziures have stopped and I have been given my license back by the state after being cleared by them and the doctor.
I called today to get myself placed back on our insurance and was told by the Hartford Company that I had 30 days to find other insurance because they would not cover anyone who had their license suppended, no matter what. I could unnderstand if it was due to a DUI or tickets but this is rediculous and quite wrong. I am filing a complaint with the NYS insurance commissioner and anyone else I can think of. Our insurance was gotten through AARP and it is beyond me to understand why a company would insure people in my age group when they know that the older you get the more problems you have. We have NEVER filed a claim with them and have NO speeding tickets but this is how we are being treated. I will never recommend the Hartford to anyone and I will make sure that their "Policy" is spoken of often and loudly.
