Hello,
I just had a really aggravating experience with my car insurers; Lords/Mercury. I just signed with them a few months ago and they asked me to send a couple of things to them- like exclusions forms, proof a damage had been fixed, etc. I was a little late in doing it, so when I did get it all together, I called in to confirm it had all been recieved. "Yes," they told me.
But last month, I got a letter from them stating that the requested papers had NOT been recieved and that my insurance had been cancelled! And not only that- it had been cancelled over 20 days before and the jerks never even told me! So I guess I had been driving around without insurance for all that time.
I was extremely pissed and called them immediately. It turns out that between the two companies, they had not handled the papers as they should and it was not sufficient or something. Even though the person I spoke with assured it was all in.
This was completely unacceptable of Mercury- or whoever- to cancel it like this in the first place, but to do this and not tell me till 20 days later? Come on!
I went to my agent to raise some hell; the insurance was reinstated, retroactively, so I hope things are good. But if I've learned anything from this, it's that I should probably not expect them to be very reliable in the future. Pretty sad.
Anybody have any thoughts on this? Or what I should do? I'd really like to let the company know about this. If any of them are reading, even better.
