: : I am about to gice some thought about joining Primerica Financial Services to try to generate some income. Does anyone out there have any advice on wether or not I should work with this company. One of the recruiters showed me a sheet with people that have earned up to 200,000 a month! Is this at all possible? I need some advice before I take interest in this company.

: DON'T DO IT. Ask your "recruiter" what percentage of the workforce makes even 50,000 per year. Even better, go to Primerica.com and see the real figures. The numbers are not good. Less than 3% make $50k and up. Ask yourself if you want to spend all of your time recruiting your friends, neighbors and anyone you meet on the street to be an insurance agent.

: The numbers and promises are just too bad to even consider. Yes, it looked good to me when I was recruited and stayed for about 3-4 months. two "business overview" rah rah meetings per week, plus Saturday AM training, plus bugging friends every night of the week to schedule appointments at their homes to con them into the system....missed a lot of time with my kids and lost about $800 all told.

: The last letter I received from the company bragged about their great results this year. They projected having just over 100,000 total agents by the end of 2002, and 220,000 recruits. Look at those figures alone and you can see they think attrition in excess of 200% is just great (I say 200% because of the 100,000 "active agents" some of the surely had to be there on Jan 1, 2002...).

: Its a numbers game and it does not work out for the vast majority of those duped into it. You could make more money for the effort working a couple nights a week at McDonalds.

: If you really have a burning desire to become an insurance agent, check out local offices of independent agents and insurance companies. Ask the agents how they got in the business and what is required.

: As far as a way of making "a little extra money", Primerica is NOT it. Nor is Amway, et al and any other Multi-level marketing pyramid. I would lump Primerica with scams promising big bucks for stuffing envelopes...

:Before signing, and of course this is probably an old post, check out the site for PRIMERICA. They offer a great service to families in need of debt reduction. The numbers they show you are optimal results no doubt, but they are acurate for the most. I recently joined and and am just like the rest, sceptical. Do some research, I did.
The BETTER BUISINESS BEURO has tons of PRIMERICA buisiness owners listed. Read up. Also, just in case you think this might be a scam that just wants your 200 dollar sign up fee, think about this. It costs 200 bucks to join which covers your buisiness license. 120 for your life insurance license. It cost OVER 500 DOLLARS for a life insurance license in Texas otherwise (where I'm from). PRIMERICA fronts the rest of the licensing fee to get you on board. They actually spend money on you! I hope this has helped a little. It's not a hoax, but then again I can't convence you with one email. Check out their site and read around, I'm sure you'll find the truth.
