: : should I be worried! not going with a household name company?? anyone has any good or bad on this company? I live in N. California, everything is expensive here, exspecialy car insurance, Thanks
: Amica came out several years ago (last time I read it) at the very top of Consumer Reports' listing of insurance companies by satisfaction of their policyholders. Amica is a company which does no advertising; they are mainly a "word of mouth" company. I am surprised they are that competitive with price; my understanding was that they were not all that competitive on price, but made up for any higher premiums with superior service.
: For financial stability, you can check with AM Best, who rates insurere purely based upon their ability to pay claims. The Consumer Reports rating should carry a lot of weight as well. If anyone has seen a rating from them that is more recent perhaps they can comment.
I don't know anything about Keith or what his affiliations are to Amica, so I'd hate to defame someone's character needlessly. However, if you visit Amica's website, you'll find a virtually identical description of the company (verbage and all), using references that match exactly those of the Amica marketing team (ie. "Word of mouth", AM Best rating). So draw your own conclusions about the objectivity of that post.
That being said, they seems to have low rates. It just makes me sceptical, as a fellow consumer researching insurance myself, if Amica representatives are indeed posting responses without disclosing there affiliation. I apologize if I am wrong, but it just looks a little bit odd to see such a remote coincidence.
