Gee thanks. I love the "best of luck in the long term".
Best of luck to you as well. You seem extremely emotional about your so-called nutritional expert and his completely unsupported "findings" and "warnings".
Tell me, just how well have Americans done on the "low fat" diets being pushed on us, as well as the "food pyramid"? I have eaten "low fat" for years and constantly gained weight. Pills and potions are no answer. Following the "nutritional guidlines" put out by the government have caused the percentage of Americans who are overweight to skyrocket.
I am not a doctor, and of course the original poster should go to a doctor. If she is indeed morbidly obese, gastric bypass may be an option. I was nowhere near that level. However, there are very serious side effects to that operation; it does have a MORTALITY RATE; ie some people do not make it through the operation. That is why doctors will only consider it in extreme cases. In addition, it is possible for people to again gain weight after the operation's initial effects have worn off in the first year or two. Without drastic changes in diet (here is where I disagree with the low fat mafia again), a person who has had the operation can regain what they have lost.
: Keith,
: Nobody said you "will" experience those symptoms. You seem to be extremely emotional about the whole Atkins Diet subject, and are allowing it to cloud your ability to reason.
: Your anectodal evidence doesn't prove anybody wrong or right: you are one of the ones for whom it worked. Best of luck in the long term.
