Judy:

I don't know if it's the nurse who disqualified you, the carriers have strict underwriting guidelines they adhere to.

Companies don't buy claims and if there is a serious pre existing condition, they are probably going to disqualify you automatically. Get with a local independent agent who knows the LTC marklet. Ask them if it would be worth your time to apply with another company. And if they know of any insurers who do not ask if you've been declined for LTC insurance and if their underwriting guide would decline you automatically for Fibromyalgia (I beleive so).

You can also discuss ways to spend down you assets and get government assistance for your future care.

: My husband and I applied for LTCI and I was rejected because I had a bout with Fibromyalgia.I am doing fine now and living my life to the fullest.I cannot believe that the nurse that called me is the one who determines whether I get approved. The insurance company did not contact my doctor so how can the nurse do that? I am truly disapointed since I am otherwise in good health.(AFLAC) Do you think that a letter from my doctor would make a difference? Please reply.
