Looking at a position with AFLAC? Well, I took an associate position with them just under 2 years ago (this Oct. will be 2 for me). I was never in insurance sales before (I sold computer upgrades and was a recruiter prior) and my first year I made $70K. Not once did I have to invite my manager in to do an enrollment with me. In the beginning he would assist me in doing presentations so I could learn from him and for that training and his time and effort in securing everything for me I did split the business, but once I felt comfortable on my own (about 4 weeks for me) I didn't have to utilize him in that way anymore. Subsequently everything I did after that was all mine. I'm NOT a captive agent and have been promoted to a District Coordinator and with that contract the commission structure is even greater. I only have positive things to say about AFLAC and the opportunity it offers to someone with drive and good work ethic. Good luck!
: : I am interviewing for an independent contractor position at AFLAC. They tell me you make around $40,000 the first year, $80,000 the second year, and six figures by the third year. Is that realistic???
: Blanket statements like the one you quoted are rarely true in the world of commission sales. If you have natural talent, seventy hours a week to devote exclusively to AFLAC, you may possibly reach these numbers. Also, in order to complete initial enrollments in a timely manner, you must invite your manager and his buddies into the business.
