United Health Care

The United rep called us back right away. We can't vouch for customer service, but their sales department is very organized. On the east coast, they provides health benefits to individuals and groups. On the West Coast, they don't insure groups of less than 1000, and are focused on self funded plans where they collect admin and COBRA fees. Larger employers can set up a self funded plan with UHC by paying medical claims through a bank account. UHC also offers stop loss insurance.

The company serves over 8 million members and has agreements with over 300,000 doctors and 3,000 hospitals throughout the U.S. We were told they service 1/3 of the Fortune 500 companies. Their main competitors include Wellpoint, Cigna and Aetna.

They have a decade old agreement with AARP (American Association of Retired Persons), to assist over 3 million seniors with Medicare Supplement and Hospital insurance.
